An Outline of the Jumpstart Your Novel Course:

A Nuts and Bolts Approach to Getting Your Idea on Paper

Who is this class for? Beginning and Intermediate Writers- For those who are seriously pursuing publication, are nearly published or have one book to two books out and wish to hone their craft.

How long will the course run? Seven weeks. Each class lasts 1 hour with a 15-30 minute discussion period at the end.

What will I learn? This class is designed to stimulated the creative processes that surround writing a novel. It focuses on the pre-writing activities, but works well for writers who are in the middle of a project, too. As participants participate in presentations and work through the materials, their novel begins to come together. Many begin writing before the class is over.. (Note: this class is geared toward creating a fictional novel. Other classes available for memoirs and other nonfiction.)

Syllabus: WK1: Writer’s Tool Box WK2: Creating characters WK3: Breathing life into your characters WK4: The two faces of setting WK5: Making your setting come to life, WK6: Jumpstart your writing (participants will have an outline at the end of this class) WK7: What now or staying in it for the long haul

Requirements- Internet access, Zoom, Microphone and camera to interact with other members of the class, paper and pencil (for the first class), and the desire to write a fictional novel.
